    Fire classes

    Reading the labels.

Reaction-to-fire classes come from BS EN 13501-1.

    A1

    Non-combustible

Makes no contribution to fire. Stone wool, aluminium, fibre cement and clay brick are typical.

    A2-s1,d0

    Limited combustibility

Very limited contribution to fire, low smoke (s1) and no flaming droplets (d0). The minimum for external walls on relevant buildings over 18m.

    B–F

    Combustible

Not permitted in the external walls of relevant buildings over 18m. These materials are what remediation removes.
